David Bender CPA, MBA

Director of Quality Control

As Laufer LLP’s Director of Quality Control, David Bender believes in and follows Lou Holtz’s three rules: “Do the right thing, do the best you can, and always show people you care.”

With nearly 30 years of diversified experience in public accounting, David is well-versed in providing accounting and auditing services to a wide variety of public and private clients including manufacturing, retail, wholesale/distribution, financial services, real estate and non-profit organizations.  In addition, he has spent the latter part of his career in quality control – a crucial component of an accounting practice that ensures the firm is staying in compliance with professional standards in order to deliver the highest level of quality services to the firm’s valued clients.

David takes great pride in helping the team at Laufer LLP address the needs of the firm’s clients with a high degree of quality.  From providing guidance on intricate business matters and performing research to resolving accounting and auditing matters, to establishing quality control systems, David delivers valued advice to both clients and team members.

Prior to joining Laufer LLP in 2018, David was a Director of Quality Control at Mazars USA LLP (Mazars) and Marcum LLP and served as Senior Audit Manager for PricewaterhouseCoopers.  His previous experience at regional and national firms is valuable to the firm’s clients who require high level consulting services and to Laufer LLP team members who are able to grow technically and professionally through David’s training programs and mentorship.

David received his Bachelor of Arts from Brooklyn College and his Master of Business Administration from Adelphi University.  He is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA).

When David is not staying up-to-date on compliance regulations and coaching team members, his family comes first.  When he manages to find some free time, he enjoys spending it at the gym, bicycling outdoors or working on cars which is one of his favorite hobbies.  And when it is time to really wind down, he delights in watching old movies from the 1930s and 1940s.
